Returning to Play & COVID-19
Last week’s announcement that the NHL will return to play this summer was exciting in many respects, but it also created considerable uncertainty surrounding the safety of the players and their families. In a memo released by the NHL, players were informed that any athlete who contracted COVID-19 would have their “injury” categorized as hockey-related, unless it can be proven that a player contracted COVID-19 outside the course of his employment as a hockey player.
