Nick Blankenburg, Columbus Blue Jackets
This month’s player spotlight is on Washington, Michigan native, Nick Blankenburg. After being cut by multiple NAHL teams, Nick was forced back for his final year of minor hockey in Michigan. That season, Nick caught the eye of a scout with the Okotoks Oilers in the AJHL, where he eventually played the following season. In 2018, Nick began his career in the NCAA, as a walk-on with the Michigan Wolverines. Over the course of his four seasons, Nick climbed the Wolverines’ depth chart, eventually becoming the team Captain for the 2021-22 season. On 8-Apr-22, Nick signed as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets and he inked a two-year extension this summer. Click the link to see Nick’s first NHL goal!
