Mason McTavish, Anaheim Ducks
This month’s player spotlight is on Carp, Ontario native, Mason McTavish. In 2019, Mason was selected fifth overall by the Peterborough Petes, coincidently his father, Dale, played for the same Ontario Hockey League team. Mason went on to play just shy of 90 OHL games, splitting time between the Petes, and the Hamilton Bulldogs. Entering the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Mason was believed to be one of the most desirable young prospects, eventually chosen 3rd overall by the Anaheim Ducks. Mason made his NHL debut that fall and recorded a goal and assist in his first game. Most recently, Mason was named MVP, Best Forward, and a tournament all-star team member at the 2022 World Juniors in Edmonton, Alberta.
