The NCAA Playbook

Late last year, the NCAA announced a landmark change to men’s ice hockey eligibility rules, taking effect on 1-Aug-25. For the first time, players from the Canadian Hockey League (CHL)—including the OHL, WHL, and QMJHL—will be allowed to compete in the NCAA. By opening the door to CHL hockey players, the NCAA is expanding the talent pool available to U.S. programs and creating new pathways for prospects who previously had to choose between junior and collegiate hockey.
